Pumpkins with my pumpkins

Decided this would be a great weekend to do some pumpkin carving. My two youngest decided they wanted to paint instead of carve so I got them small pumkins to paint and my oldest wanted to carve so she has a bigger one. I decided to be a weirdo and paint a butternut squash instead.

We had a special guest today. My oldest best friend decided she wanted to help.

Messy messy messy

Nothing wrong with girls getting messy

BRAINS!!!!

Its always the fun crafts that get us laughing at things we never knew we would laugh at. It brings people closer together and creates memories that will never be forgotten. Kids grow up too fast (and sometimes it feels like not fast enough haha) , so take the time to enjoy their childhood before its gone.

Just like Mummy used to make

Hello All, this weekend the girls and I decided on a Halloween themed recipe that was suggested to us by some of the great ladies from Happy Valley Moms facebook page.

None of us are big fans of olives so we didn't add those.

This will be some spooky fun for all the children of the house. (including the man child who is writing this)

My oldest starts with the bandages.

The hotdogs are cut and the mummification has begun

popping them in

they "patiently" wait

yummy time!! (yes the girls wrapped up the rest of the crescent dough )

The part they makes it all worth it is seeing the smile on their faces and the light in their eyes. Its seeing that you are doing something that matters to them and that they might end up remembering this forever.

My girls rating: 3/3 wish we had more hotdogs haha
My rating: I love this...soooooo yummy!!

Something spicy on a chilly day

So originally my kids (being the veggie monsters they are) wanted make a strawberry salad. But instead we decided to go with some quesadillas. Cheese and Rice Quesadillas .

The kiddos had fun making a mess of my kitchen....I mean.... putting the cheese on the tortillas. As we waited for the rice to finish, my munchkins started a dance off to pass the time. My oldest played the music from an old music box. Its moments like this that make me the happiest as a dad. Nothing makes the cooking experience more fun then my kids using their free time to laugh and play.

It begins

The cheese tornado hits

Dance off with my doggy

almost done
Finished product

My girls rating: 3/3 loved it and wanted more but we used all the ingrediants (and Daddy may or may not have ate all the cheese)
My rating: Delicious and saving it for the recipe book

I think one of these days I need a guest appearance by one or more of the many people who've helped me and gave me advice from the Happy Valley Moms Facebook page. Thank you all!!

Its called Creamy One Pan Broccoli Cheddar Penne ...thats a mouth full (cue fake laughter). Here is the link to what I made... Creamy One Pan Broccoli Cheddar Penne. (Disclaimer: No children were hurt in the making of this recipe)

I chained the settings to 8 servings to make sure that me and my eating machines had enough food(until 5 mins later they got hungry again)

First try

I won't be able to post the recipes yet because I'm not currently at home where I have them written down. But last weekend my daughters and I made cucumber sandwiches  (spread made with cream cheese,  Italian dressing, and mayo) and for the main course we had Slow cooker chicken stroganoff.  As I learn to work blogger better I'll try to add pictures and links to where I got my recipes .

Anyway, my daughters had so much fun helping me make the food and it was soooo good. They are already excited to make a meal next weekend. Thank you all who gave me ideas and support. I can see this becoming a great bonding experience with my girls.

Why I try

Hello, I recently found myself in the role of both mother and father of 3 beautiful little girls as i have separated from my wife. I consider myself a good father but a subpar mother figure haha. Last week I decided to start a project to help myself and my daughters.
The plan is to randomly pick recipes from websites given to me by the amazing mommies at the Happy Valley moms page on facebook.  Each weekend my daughters and I will make dinner together and learn to cook together  (since my previous cooking skills were making mac and cheese or ramen noodles). This way I can pass on the ability to cook and learn new skills to survive the single life. Step two of my project is to learn how to braid hair and do different hair styles for my girls.

I hope you all enjoy.
